Sam Accoceberry
In Greek, the literal meaning of Aktis is ray or beam while figuratively it is brightness and splendor. When creating Aktis, designer Sam Accoceberry was driven by a desire to create a lighting collection that emulated a “ray of crystalline light,” hence its name.
The designer envisioned a linear element at the heart of the collection that, could easily complement diverse architectural spaces. The collection is made up of 3 suspensions and 3 wall lamps of various lengths. The different sizes welcome various configurations from a simple singular suspension or wall lamp to a cascade of mirrored beams.
Drawn to contemporary shapes and old-world artistry, Accoceberry created a simple geometric shape using mirrored Venetian glass. He then added subtle details with infused gold leaf and beveling that, gently reminds us of the classic and highly ornate mirrors of the past.
With the Aktis collection, the glass for the first time does not act as a light diffuser, but rather as a reflector. It is the perforated metal, tucked between the two glass elements, that becomes the diffuser. The result is a pure minimalist design that strikes a seamless dialogue between contemporary and classic design codes.
